Meet the Doctor

Scoliosis The Story of Skocik Chiropractic starts with Dr Albert Skocik

During track season his junior year in high school, he developed a limp on his left side. He saw the school physician, he said he could be suffering from a stress fracture, or maybe it was mostly in his head. While on a 20-mile Saturday morning run he noticed the recurring limp after only 2-miles. That's when he knew it wasn't only in his head and contacted a chiropractor for treatment. The chiropractic care helped with his limp and running.

At the age of 19, he qualified for the Boston Marathon, but as the limp persisted, he decided to focus more on his studies.

During his Army physical was the first time he heard about scoliosis. When his lower back was finally x-rayed in chiropractic school the extent of the curvature and unevenness of his spine was seen for the 1st time.

When he started in practice, he was told by the equipment leasing company that he needed to get disability insurance. The disability insurance agent told him they would not cover his back, and he would likely only be in practice for 5 years.

He has been in practice since May 1989 and has not missed one day of work due to back pain.
