Skocik Chiropractic provides the comprehensive care and treatment for mobility concerns and pain you need. Many people experience pain in their feet. This pain can range from mild to severe or chronic to acute. Our goal is to provide you with the best treatment possible for your needs. When you visit your Harrisburg chiropractor, we’ll learn as much as we can about what’s causing your pain and offer a treatment plan to address it at the cause. Plantar fasciitis doesn’t have to be a condition you just live with.

Plantar Fasciitis

Understanding Plantar Fasciitis Symptoms and Causes

Plantar fasciitis is a condition impacting the long band of tissues that run from the heel bone to the toes. This band of tissues along the bottom of your feet helps to ensure your foot can bend properly so you can walk. This band, called the plantar fascia, can become inflamed. When this happens, the pain can seem significantly. When there is pain and inflammation in this area, we call that condition plantar fasciitis.

Common symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:

  • Stabbing, often significant pain in this area of the foot
  • Pain in the foot that is worse just after waking up
  • The pain is also worse after you have been sitting for a while and begin to walk

Many people experience pain that ranges from a dull ache to a stabbing sharp pain. However, the pain generally will come and go, often when you first start using your foot after a break.

Plantar fasciitis is common in those who overwork the foot. For example, runners often experience this condition. It also impacts those who are overweight, who are on their feet for long periods of time, and those who do not wear supportive shoes.

How Your Chiropractor Can Help

When you visit your chiropractic, our first goal will be to understand the underlying cause. Some of our patients need a chiropractic adjustment, a procedure in which we work to properly align the spinal column and joints. When there is a misalignment, it can cause poor walking posture, leading to your pain. We also may recommend massage therapy as a way to stimulate the body’s natural ability to heal.

Often, our patients also benefit from orthotics and physical therapy. The goal here is to ensure you are no longer walking in the improper position that often worsens or causes plantar fasciitis to occur in the first place.  Your goal in visiting with our team is to have a customized treatment plan addressed to tackle what’s causing your pain. We’ll do that for you.
